THE SPIRIT OF A PETROL-HEAD

If God came and asked me, ”Tomorrow is doomsday,

Ask for one last thing”, then I would say,

“Send me to the Alps with an M3 by my side,

I’ll be there till Armageddon, relishing my last ride!!”

Cars come first in my list of passions and dream,

Even the thought of cars, makes me beam.

I have to say, all you car-lovers out there,

If you haven’t, then start watching “Top Gear”.

The 14^th season is now being unfurled,

You have to say, the 3 blokes are the luckiest guys in the world!!

The sight of a car crash cuts my heart with a knife,

It’s because, I view cars as entities full of life.

Two ways exist, in which cars can be perceived,

As to what way, they gratify our need.

One way, is to see them as icons of style and glamour,

With dashing looks, and revving sounds that cause fervor

The other way is to see them as engineering relics

A perfect combination of science, math and aerodynamics.

Many companies have established a great name

In the auto-world, each have their own claim to fame.

Americans for muscle, Italians for passion,

Japanese for sensibleness and germans for precision.

All are different, the motive being the same,

To earn their beautiful creation, international acclaim.

The dictionary says,” a car is a motor vehicle with four wheels”,

this is infinitely incomplete, is what a petrol-head feels.

I have my own way of describing a car, which goes like this-

“A machine which fills your heart with bliss,

It’s a feeling that turns you into an 8-year old,

When you drive it, you’ll know, it is worth its weight in gold.

Creates music, which can give Mozart a run for his money,

It’s a soul-stirring and heart-warming symphony.

It’s a consistent companion and a faithful friend.”

and years may go, but my love for cars will never end.
